Countdown to our world trip: How we are preparing for our dream adventure (10 months to go!)

The adventure is getting closer and closer! It has been 10 days since our last update on our world trip, and we have not been idle. Preparations for our trip to Asia, Australia and more are in full swing. We are happy to share the latest developments with you!

We have now determined not only the countries we will visit, but also the specific route we will take through them. 🌍

Indonesia: We start in Bali, where we will first immerse ourselves in culture and nature. Then we will travel to Lombok, Flores, Sumbawa & the Gili Islands, where we intend to enjoy nature in full.

Philippines: The Philippines are known for their idyllic beaches, and we can’t wait to explore the beautiful islands of Palawan and Cebu. Here we will not only relax, but also explore nature, with adventurous hikes and snorkeling. Thailand: Our itinerary in Thailand goes from bustling Bangkok to tranquil Chiang Mai in the north, and we end in the tropical paradises of the Thai islands, such as Koh Samui and Koh Tao. It will be a dynamic trip, with a good balance of culture, adventure and relaxation! The itineraries we have mapped out now make us even more excited for the trip. ✈️

In our search for additional funds to finance our world trip, I (Joke) took a temporary job as an administrative assistant in education. This helps us set aside extra money for the trip and other travel preparations. It is nice to create some financial space, especially as our world trip is taking shape. 💰

I recently purchased a course on smart saving and investing. This course helps us get our finances in order, not only for the world trip, but also for the future. We are learning how to invest and save money optimally, which will benefit us in the long run. This will benefit both our trip and our financial future. 📈 Would you like to get started on this too? I plan to write an e-book for each country we will visit. Since our trip doesn’t start for another 10 months, I wanted to start in advance with an e-book about the island we’ve lost our hearts to: Curaçao. Having lived on this beautiful island for 7 years, we obviously know a lot about it and can share our knowledge with others. The e-book on Curaçao is now well underway, with already 119 pages full of insider tips, travel advice and practical information. It will be a comprehensive guide for anyone who wants to discover the island. I am also developing a template for our future travel e-books, which we plan to offer worldwide. 🏝️

We are busy preparing our house for rental! We want to do a trial during the upcoming school vacations by offering our home through Airbnb rentals. It remains exciting, as we are also considering the option of renting out our home through a real estate agent. 🏡

Finding the right travel insurance for our world trip is proving to be a challenge. Most insurance policies only cover shorter periods, but we are determined to find long-term insurance that will protect us for the entire trip. We keep an eye on the options and carefully choose the best coverage for our adventures. 🛡️

I am currently on a coaching program with Unizo to redesign my business so that I can continue to run it while we are traveling. My business, Pure Life Photography (specializing in maternity and newborn photography) and Pure Living Photography (Airbnb photography), mean a lot to me. But I also want them to continue to grow even when I’m not physically present. Therefore, I am exploring ways to expand my business further, such as collaborating with other photographers, hiring someone, or selling photos online and offering courses. It remains exciting how this will all work out, but I am confident that solutions will come! 😊

Our preparations are moving fast, and we have a lot on our agenda: from visa applications to packing the right stuff.
